Introduction When exporting a report from MYOB to Excel 2003, some fields show the date in the body of the report in US date format. This support note will explain how to change the format from mm/dd/yy to dd/mm/yy. |
When exporting a report from MYOB to Excel 2003, some fields show the date in the body of the report in US date format.
The date range in the heading displays correctly, however the body of the report may be incorrect.
or some reason if the field is a date format, Excel 2003 tries to convert it into US format of MM/DD/YYYY. If it cannot recognise the date it will leave the format as is.
For Example: If the date is the 1/7/04 Excel will display as US format whereas 14/7/04 will display correctly because Excel recognises there are only 12 months in a year (not 14 as in our example).
Workaround way 1
Export the report as HTML (Send to > HTML) then open the file in excel. This way the dates will display correctly and the formatting will stay relatively the same.
Workaround way 2
Microsoft Excel - MYOB report when export to Excel the date become US format
These templates have the date fields set as text fields, which overcomes this issue of Excel 2003 changing the format to US date format. For example on the General Ledger Detail Report for some format with date 11/07/05 after export to Excel it will becomes 7 November 05.
How to resolve this issue:
Open the Microsoft Excel 2003 go to File > Open > C: > Premier > Spredsht > Open a filename called genjrld.xlt.
Open both worksheet to know which column is the date format as shown below :
Select the whole Column D go to Format > Cell > Number > Custom > type in mm/dd/yyyy
Once you have done the changes. Click File > Save As > change the Save as type to Template (*.xlt) and browse back to the C: > Premier > Spredsht > genjrld.xlt
Once you have save the file and re-run Send to Excel in MYOB.
You will see:
This can be use for any other MYOB report with the same issue.
