Introduction:
This guide is intended for users of ABSS Payroll version 14.2 Malaysia who are required to submit their CP8D for the year 2023.
Pre-requisite:
Download the CP8D_DetailGen tool (zip file) from here.
Step by Step to update CP8D text file for 2023 Submission
Step 1: Create a folder
- Create a new folder name "UpdateCP8D".
- Extract the CP8D_DetailGen.exe file into the "UpdateCP8D" folder.
Step 2: Copy Employee CP8D Text File
- Locate your employee CP8D text file from payroll application folder, which typically starts with the format PHHHHHHHHHH_TTTT.TXT
- Copy this file into "UpdateCP8D" folder.
Step 3: Run the CP8D_DetailGen Tool
- Double-click the CP8D_DetailGen.exe program to launch it.
- The program will prompt you to select the text file and confirm whether you want to create a backup of the original file. Choose the appropriate option and proceed.
Important Note:
Development of ABSS Payroll has been discontinued. As a workaround solution, this tool adds two new fields with the default values to your existing text file.
Step 4: Update Employee Data
- After running the program, you can use Notepad or similar text editor to open your original text file.
- You will see that all record rows are being inserted with two new fields at the fifth & sixth field position, all employee record are auto filled with value "|2|dd-mm-yyyy".
- You must manually review and update the necessary information for each employee based on their employment status as of December 2023. (Refer to the table below for details.)
- After complete the update, saved your text file and proceed with CP8D submission in MyTax portal.
Field Position | Description | Remark |
Fifth Field |
Employee Status Codes The field is mandatory. Refer to the list below for valid employee status codes: Status 1: Management of the organization** Status 2: Permanent Status 3: Contract Status 4: Part time Status 5: Interns Status 6: Others
** Management of the organization are referred to company directors, cooperative society’s board members, association's controlling members and partners of limited liability partnership.
If the status changes in the same year, for example from Status 3 to Status 2, fill in the latest Employee Status.
|
The CP8D_DetailGen tool will default all employee to code 2, as majority of the employees are Permanent status. Note: You are required to change the value manually if the employee has a different status. |
Sixth Field |
Date of Retirement /End of Contract The field is mandatory. If an employee's employment terminated (voluntarily or involuntarily) during the remuneration year, enter the termination date in this field. Use the format dd-mm-yyyy Eg: 15-11-2023
|
The tool will default this field to Birthdate plus 60 years where birthdate is retrieved from IC number.
Important Notes for specific scenarios: i) Employee still under Employment - leave the default value as it is. ii) Foreign Employee - Payroll system currently uses the IC number to store SOCSO numbers for foreign employees. Consequently, the tool will automatically assign the current system date plus 60 years to the "Sixth Field" for these employees. Payroll administrators must manually change this value to the foreign employee's actual birthdate plus 60 years (as indicated on their passports). Eg: Birthdate = 18-06-1990, you should update the sixth field to 18-06-2050.
iii) Resigned, Retired or Terminated Employee - If employee resigned, retired or terminated in year 2023, you are required to fill in this field with the actual resigned date, retired date or terminated date. |
We hope this guide assists you in submitting your CP8D for the year 2023. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our support.
